Empirical tests on BioHashing

چکیده
Given the recent explosion of interest in human authentication, verification based on tokenised pseudo-random numbers and userspecific biometric feature (BioHashing) has received much attention. The purpose of our paper is to investigate the pros and the cons of BioHashing. In particular we study: how to combine BioHashing in a multi-modal fusion approach based on the integration of face and fingerprint data; how to combine BioHashing and user specific Iris features. The results of this paper confirm that a multi-modal biometric can overcome some of the limitations of a single biometric resulting in a substantial performance improvement. Moreover, we show that a multi-matcher system based on the fusion between ‘‘BioHashed’’ Iris features and a ‘‘standard’’ Iris matcher permits to obtain good performance when an ‘‘impostor’’ steals the pseudo-random numbers, and a near zero Equal Error Rate when nobody steals the pseudo-random numbers. r 2006 Elsevier B.V. BioEncoding: A Reliable Tokenless Cancelable Biometrics Scheme for Protecting IrisCodes
Despite their usability advantages over traditional authentication systems, biometrics-based authentication systems suffer from inherent privacy violation and non-revocability issues. In order to address these issues, the concept of cancelable biometrics was introduced as a means of generating multiple, revocable, and noninvertible identities from true biometric templates. Apart from BioHashing...
متن کاملAn improved BioHashing for human authentication
Given the recent explosion of interest in human authentication, verification based on tokenized pseudo-random numbers and the user specific biometric feature (BioHashing) has received much attention. These methods have significant functional advantages over sole biometrics i.e. zero equal error rate. The main drawback of the base BioHashing method proposed in the literature relies in exhibiting...
متن کاملAn Analysis on Accuracy of Cancelable Biometrics Based on BioHashing
Cancelable biometrics has been proposed for canceling and re-issuing biometric templates and for protecting privacy in biometrics systems. Recently, new cancelable biometric approaches are proposed based on BioHashing, which are random transformed feature-based cancelable biometrics. In this paper, we consider the accuracy of one of the cancelable biometrics based on BioHashing and face. Throug...
متن کاملBiohashing: two factor authentication featuring fingerprint data and tokenised random number
Human authentication is the security task whose job is to limit access to physical locations or computer network only to those with authorisation. This is done by equipped authorised users with passwords, tokens or using their biometrics. Unfortunately, the first two suffer a lack of security as they are easy being forgotten and stolen; even biometrics also suffers from some inherent limitation...
متن کاملAn Analysis on Invertibility of Cancelable Biometrics based on BioHashing
⎯ One of the aims of cancelable biometrics is to protect privacy. In order to protect privacy, cancelable biometrics are preferably to be non-invertible such that no information can be revealed from the cancelable biometrics template, which is stored in databases for personal identification/verification. One way to achieve the non-invertibility is through the use of non-invertible transforms. R...
